How to create library fine (late fine / Damaged Fine / Lost Fine)?

Fine can be charged if the borrowed holding is

  • not returned
  • not returned in good condition
  • not returned on time

The lost fine can be charged if the holding is reported to have lost from the borrower.
Damage fine can be charged if the holding is found damaged while returning. Both the lost and damage fine can be a fixed amount or a percent of the price of the holding. The late fine can be charged when the holding is returned after the due date. It can be a fixed amount, slab amount or a varying amount for each day. Remember that while more than one kind of lost fine or damaged fine can be created but not more than one kind of late fine( Fixed/Slab Wise/Per day) can be created in an academic session.

  1. Click at the top right corner of the screen to add fine.
  2. Click the Late icon at the left side of the page.
  3. Select the method by which you want to calculate the late fine (Fixed, Slab wise or Per day).

    For Fixed Amount
    Enter the Fine Name.
    Enter the Fine Amount.
    NOTE:
    If the late fine is created with a fixed amount, irrespective of the number of days by which the due date has crossed, the fixed amount can be charged.

    For Slab Wise
    Enter the Fine Name.
    Enter the From Day and To Day to define the slab time.
    Enter the Slab amount.
    Click at the right side to create more slabs.
    NOTE:
    If the late fine is charged slab wise, different amounts can be charged for the specified time period.
    E.g; Rs. 20 can be charged from the borrower who returns the holding any day between day 1 to day 5 after the due date and Rs. 40 can be charged from the borrower who returns the holding any day between day 6 to day 10 after the due date.

    For Per Day
    Enter the Fine Name.
    Enter the Fine Amount.
    Enter the Fine Limit (Fine amount which can not be increased after fine limit).
    NOTE:
    If the late fine is charged per day, fine will be incremental each day.

  4. Click Save.
  5. Click Damaged/Lost icon to create Damaged Fine /Lost fine.
  6. Select the method by which you wish to create the Fine.

    For Fixed amount
    Enter the Fine Name.
    Enter the Fixed amount.

    For % of book Price
    Enter the Fine Name.
    Enter Percentage of Book Price.

  7. Click Save.

NOTE:

  • Irrespective of the damage occurred to the book, the fixed amount will be charged as fine.
  • Depending upon the damage happened for the holdings, various fines can be created.
  • Default fine can be set for damaged and lost fine.
